Carrying a box is more than moving the box from one place to another. We want the difference between a small product in one hand and a larger carton in two arms to be readable from across the aisle. In 0.27, workers’ hands become a clearer part of the jobs already happening in the gallery.

A different hold for a different box

Small products use one hand, while larger boxes use two. Hand placement follows the box edges, so different product sizes produce different carrying poses. Carrying, picking up and placing have also received attention as a connected sequence of work.

The focus at this stage is a readable grip and a sense of contact. It is not individual finger-by-finger grasp simulation. Visual adjustments across the different workers and box sizes remain ongoing.

Take the handles

Both hands now align with the handle when pushing a shopping cart. The cart and the worker behind it can tell the same story. Moving a load of stock down the corridor should look different from simply standing beside a teammate.

Helping, picking up products, placing them and cleaning also have a place in the character’s activity states. The aim is to let you see what someone is working on without relying entirely on the interface.

Floor work gets down to floor level

Kneeling and cloth-wiping bring a visible response to water and dirt on the floor. The hand reaches towards the surface where the work is happening. The interaction stays familiar: hold E beside a suitable puddle or piece of litter to clean it.

This visual step does not add a mop, bucket or detergent system. It develops the body language of the existing simple cleanup interaction. The images are in-game development captures made with a separate camera for inspecting these motions.

A jump and a few more gestures

Jumping, being airborne and landing now have distinct visual phases. The emote menu grows from eight to twelve. There is usually time for a wave between jobs; we have not asked the boxes for their opinion.

The way a knocked-down character meets the floor has also been revised to reduce floating over small stock and litter. Version 0.28 takes that attention into everyday movement, sole alignment and the preparation for a throw.
