The Tough One

Dana

When things get messy, her sentences get shorter, not louder.

Dana starts a shift by finding out what everyone is dealing with, rather than giving a speech. When something goes wrong, she looks for the blocked passage before looking for someone to blame. Her directness can seem stern, but she is just as direct about backing her team. Offering help comes easily; asking for it does not. She sometimes takes over without noticing, and is learning that sharing the work can mean stepping back. Her dry closing-time jokes tend to catch people off guard.

Working style
Clears the shared problem first and likes responsibilities to be clear. Once she makes a promise, she does not wait to be reminded.
Place in the crew
Turns confusion into a practical next step and speaks up when a teammate is being unfairly singled out.
Voice & manner
Short, direct sentences. Pressure does not make her louder; a joke quietly lands at the end of an otherwise serious remark.
The small catch
Waits too long to ask for help. Taking over with good intentions, she can forget to leave room for someone else.

SUPERVISOR’S NOTE

Her sense of responsibility reassures the team. She need not personally own every setback. We suggested pausing before answering an offer of help with “I’ve got it.”

INCIDENT RECORD

A box she asked “Who left this here?” about contained a note in her handwriting: “Here for now.” The note was quietly added to her file.

A file can tell you plenty. Sharing a shift tells you more.

BEYOND THE FILE

Still work to do. Still more to say.

Dana won’t leave a job unfinished. Lex rarely leaves room for silence. Joe usually has a short remark for both of them. Working together means learning each other’s little habits, too.
